The days of Hajj and Dhul Hijjah are among the most spiritually charged moments in the Islamic calendar. Whether you are blessed to perform Hajj or engaging in worship from afar, these sacred days are an ideal time to increase in remembrance and turn sincerely to Allah ﷻ. One of the most powerful acts of worship during these days is making dua for Hajj and Dhul Hijjah—sincere supplication from the heart.
Below are authentic, well-sourced duas that can be recited during various rituals of Hajj, as well as throughout the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah. Each is a treasure from the Sunnah and Qur’an.
Hajj and the Greatness of Dhul Hijjah
The Qur’an contains powerful verses about Hajj that emphasize its spiritual status, deep symbolism, and the profound mercy of Allah ﷻ during this time. These verses serve as both instructions and inspirations for believers.
1. Hajj as a Duty Upon Mankind
﴾وَلِلَّهِ عَلَى النَّاسِ حِجُّ الْبَيْتِ مَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ إِلَيْهِ سَبِيلًا﴿
Translation: And [due] to Allah ﷻ from the people is a pilgrimage to the House – for whoever is able to find thereto a way.
🔗 Surah Aal-Imran 3:97
2. The Purpose of the Sacred Months
﴾الْحَجُّ أَشْهُرٌ مَّعْلُومَاتٌ﴿
Translation: Hajj is [during] well-known months.
🔗 Surah Al-Baqarah 2:197
These months begin with Shawwal, followed by Dhul Qa’dah and the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah, which culminate in the rites of Hajj.
3. Mentioning the Name of Allah During Hajj
﴾لِيَذْكُرُوا اسْمَ اللَّهِ فِي أَيَّامٍ مَّعْلُومَاتٍ﴿
Translation: So that they may mention the name of Allah ﷻ on known days.
🔗 Surah Al-Hajj 22:28
Ibn Abbas said: “The known days are the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah.”
4. Dhul Hijjah: The Best Days for Worship
While not explicitly named in a verse, scholars agree that the greatest days of the year—mentioned in hadith—are within Dhul Hijjah.
Translation: There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah ﷻ than these ten days. They asked: Not even Jihad? He said: Not even Jihad, unless a man goes out with his life and wealth and returns with nothing.
🔗 Sahih al-Bukhari 969
Let us reflect on these divine verses and maximize every moment of Dhul Hijjah, a time chosen by Allah ﷻ for remembrance, sacrifice, and renewal of our covenant with Him.
