As we journey through life, we are often met with differing circumstances and unique challenges. Many of us encounter moments where we seek an increase in our means of sustenance and wealth. However, as followers of Islam—submitters to the will of Allah, the Most High—we understand that wealth and provisions come from none other than Allah (s.w.t).
In this spirit, we devote our latest blog post to explore the spiritual realm of seeking an increase in wealth and sustenance from an Islamic perspective. Our intention is to provide enlightenment from the teachings of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) and the divine wisdom of Allah (s.w.t) as detailed within the Qur’an.
This blog post will introduce authentic dua (supplications) that have been shared with us through the Qur’an and the Hadith, specifically for seeking an increase in wealth and betterment in our livelihoods.
Remember, brothers and sisters, while we make these duas, it’s imperative to bear in mind that true richness is the richness of the soul. Any blessing, including wealth, is a test from Allah (s.w.t), and the best way to navigate this life is to utilize our wealth in ways that please Him.
Join us on a spiritual exploration that calls upon the divine bounty of Allah (s.w.t), with the understanding that everything we attain in this Dunya is through His Mercy. Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) said, “Richness is not in having many belongings, but richness is the richness of the soul” (Narrated by Muslim).

Dua for Wealth 15 | Dua From Quran
There are several supplications taught to us by the prophets that sought to increase sustenance (rizq) from Allah (swt). Among them, the dua of Prophet Musa (Moses), when he found himself in urgent need in a foreign land, is a perfect embodiment of sincere dependance on Allah (swt). He said:
“رَبِّ إِنِّي لِمَا أَنزَلْتَ إِلَيَّ مِن خَيْرٍ فَقِيرٌ”
“Rabbi inni lima anzalta ilayya min khayrin faqir”
“My Lord, indeed I am, for whatever good You would send down to me, in need.” (Al-Qur’an, 28:24)
Dua for Wealth 16 | Dua From Sunnah
Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) also imparted a beautiful dua seeking Rizq:
“اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا”
“Allahumma inni as’aluka ‘ilman naafi’an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa ‘amalan mutaqabbalan.”
“O Allah, I ask You for knowledge that is of benefit, a good provision, and deeds that will be accepted.”
Dua for Wealth 17 | Focus on Akhira
Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) taught:
“Whoever has the Hereafter as his main concern, Allah will fill his heart with a feeling of richness and independence; he will be focused and feel content, and worldly gains will come to him despite his reluctance. And whoever has this world as his main concern, Allah will cause him to feel constant fear and anxiety; he will be scattered and have no focus, and nothing will come to him except that which was already predestined for him.” (Narrated by Ibn Majah)
So our dua should always focus on the hereafter. From the noble Qur’an, we find a dua that beautifully encompasses both our life in this world and the Hereafter:
“رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ”
“Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanatan wa fil ‘akhirati hasanatan waqina ‘adhaban-nar”
“Our Lord! Give us in this world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is good, and save us from the torment of the Fire!” (Al-Baqarah, 2:201)
May Allah (s.w.t) guide us to the right path in all our endeavors, and may He bless us with bounties in this world and the next. Ameen.
