Dua for Sadness, Anxiety, and Depression

“Oh Allah, You hear my words, see where I am, know my secrets and what is public knowledge; nothing is hidden from You. I am poor and in need, seeking refuge and salvation. I am fearful and anxious, remorseful and admitting to my sins. I ask for what a poor person asks for, and I supplicate to You with the supplication of a humble, sinful person. I pray to You with the prayer of a scared, mute person, and I am a servant who has submitted their neck to You, and admits to You their sins. Oh Allah, make my heart cold with snow, frost and cold water. Oh Allah, purify my heart from sins, just as You purified the white garment from dirt.”

This duaa is a sincere supplication to Allah (SWT) to grant the person’s requests, and to forgive their sins and ease their struggles. It also expresses the person’s humility and recognition of their need for Allah’s mercy and compassion. The duaa asks for the person’s heart to be purified from sins and to be filled with peace and tranquility.

Duaa for Seeking Refuge from Sadness, or if fearing someone

Ibn ‘Abbas said, “Whoever has a worry, sorrow or grief or fears a ruler, should use this supplication and he will be answered. It is: ‘I ask You by (the words) “There is no god but You, the Lord of the seven heavens and the Lord of the Immense Throne” and I ask You by (the words) “There is no god but You, the Lord of the seven heavens and the Lord of the Immense Throne” and I ask You by (the words) “There is no god but You, the Lord of the seven heavens and the seven earths and what is in them. You have power over all things.'” Then he should ask for what he needs.”
