Dua for Leaving the House | Powerful Islamic Supplications for Protection

by MD

Every day, we embark on various journeys outside our homes. It might be for work, Qur’an study circles, errands, or social visits. We open our doors, step out, and merge with the rest of the world. This simple act of leaving our homes is such an ordinary part of our lives that we often forget the profound spiritual connections woven into it, all rooted in the infinite mercy and guidance of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala.

Through His mercy and our beloved Prophet Muhammad’s teachings (peace be upon him), we are reminded to recite specific duas (supplications) for protection when leaving the house. These prophetic duas strengthen our reliance on Allah, offer spiritual security, and serve as daily acts of worship. For Muslims seeking protection, guidance, and divine blessing on their daily journey, making dua when stepping outside is a powerful sunnah practice.

Dua for Leaving the House 1

Transliteration: Bismillah, tawakkaltu ‘ala Allah, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa-billah.
Translation: In the Name of Allah, I have placed my trust in Allah, and there is no might nor power except with Allah.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said that whoever says this dua will be told by an angel, “You have been guided, you have been sufficed, you have been protected and the devil has been repelled from you.” Then the devil will go away from the person, and another devil will say, “How can you deal with a man who has been guided, sufficed and protected?”
🔗 Abu Dawood 5095” Then the devil will go away from the person, and another devil will say, “How can you deal with a man who has been guided, sufficed and protected?”

This dua specifically seeks Allah’s protection against various emergencies and adverse situations we might encounter as we step into the world.

Dua for Leaving the House When Travelling

A dua for safety on the journey, ideal to recite when leaving the house for travels:

May these duas bring a sense of relief and protection as we move through our days, always mindful of Allah’s ever-watchful eye. May our journeys, no matter how small or large, be under His care. Incorporate these vital supplications into your daily routine and feel the divine embrace of Allah’s protection and guidance. May we always find solace in the enduring wisdom of Allah. Ameen.
