Among the most powerful tools given to us by our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) are the Duas – a sincere, humble appeal to Allah, encompassing all aspects of our lives. One such profound Dua is the supplication for good health.
A state of good health is indeed one of the most valuable blessings that Allah bestows upon His creation. It’s a gift that enables us to fulfill our obligations towards Allah and in the service of His creation. Dua 1
أَنِّي مَسَّنِيَ الضُّرُّ وَأَنتَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ
Annee massaniya ad-durru wa anta arhamur-raahimeen.
Indeed, adversity has touched me, and you are the Most Merciful of the merciful. [Qur’an 21:83]
This is a Dua recited by Prophet Ayyub AS, during his time of affliction. It is a humble plea acknowledging our dependence on Allah’s SWT mercy when we are in distress.
Dua 2
اللهم إني أعوذُ بك من الجنونِ والجُذامِ، والبرصِ وسيِّئِ الأسقامِ
Allahumma inni a’udhu bika minal junooni wal judhaami, wal barasi wa sayyi’il asqaam.
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from madness, leprosy, skin diseases, and all bad diseases. \[Sahih al-Nisai, As reported by Anas b. Malik RA, Hadith Number:5508, Sahih.]
This Hadith is a plea to Allah SWT seeking liberation from all serious illnesses and diseases, acknowledging the supremacy and authority of Allah SWT over all ailments.
Dua 3
اللَّهمَّ عافِني في بَدَني، اللَّهمَّ عافِني في سَمْعي، اللَّهمَّ عافِني في بَصَري، لا إلهَ إلَّا أنتَ
Transliteration: Allahumma ‘aafinee fee badani, Allahumma ‘aafinee fee sam’ee, Allahumma ‘aafinee fee basaree, la ilaha illa anta.
Translation: O Allah, grant me health in my body. O Allah, grant me good hearing. O Allah, grant me good sight. There is no god but You. [reported by Al-Albani in Sahih Abi Dawud on the authority of `Abdur Rahman bin Abi Bakra, Hadith number: 5090, The isnad is hasan.]
This is not only a plea for physical well-being, but above all, it’s a testament of our complete belief in Allah’s power over all things.
Dua 4
اللهمَّ أَمتِعْني بسمْعي وبصري حتى تجعلَهما الوارثَ مني، وعافِني في دِيني وفي جسَدي، وانصرْني ممن ظلمَني حتى تُرِيَني فيه ثأْري اللهم إني أسلمْتُ نفسي إليك، وفوَّضتُ أمري إليك، وألجَأْتُ ظهري إليك، وخلَّيتُ وجهي إليك، لا ملجأَ ولا مَنْجى منك إلا إليك، آمنتُ برسولِك الذي أرسلتَ، وبكتابِك الذي أنزلْتَ
Transliteration: Allahumma amti’nee bi sam’ee wa basaree hatta taj’alhuma al-waritha minnee, wa ‘aafinee deeenee wa fee jasadiee, wansurnee mimmam zalamani hatta turiyanee feehi tha’ri. Allahumma innee aslamtu nafsee ilayk, wa fawwadtu amree ilayk, wa alja’tu zahree ilayk, wa khallaytu wajhee ilayk, la malja’a wala manja minka illa ilayk. Aamantu birasoolik allathee arsalt, wa bikitaabik allathee anzalt.
Translation: O Allah, grant me the enjoyment of my hearing and sight until you make them inherit from me, give me health in my religion and in my body, and support me against those who wronged me until you show me my revenge on them. O Allah, I have submitted myself to You, entrusted my affairs to You, sought for protection in Your guidance, surrendered my back to You, and I need and seek Your refuge. There is no refuge or safe haven from you except with You. I believed in Your messenger whom You sent and Your book which You brought down. [reported by Al-Albani in Sahi al-Jami on the authority of Ali bin Abi Talib RA, Hadith number: 1269, Sahih.]
Dua For Good Health
Dua 5
أَذْهِبِ البَاسَ، رَبَّ النَّاسِ، وَاشْفِ أَنْتَ الشَّافِي، لا شِفَاءَ إلَّا شِفَاؤُكَ، شِفَاءً لا يُغَادِرُ سَقَمًا
Transliteration: Adh-hibili al-ba’sa, Rabban naas, wa ishfi antash-Shaafi, laa shifaa’a illa shifaa’uka, shifaa’an laa yughaadir saqama.
Translation: Remove the suffering, O Lord of mankind, and heal it perfectly, as You are the True Healer. There is no cure except Your cure, a cure which is not followed by sickness! [reported by Muslim in Sahih Muslim, from Aisha Ummul Mu’minin RA, Hadith number: 2191, Sahih.]

Dua 6
بسْمِ اللهِ أَُرقي نفسي، مِن كُلِّ شيءٍ يُؤْذِيني، مِن شَرِّ كُلِّ نَفْسٍ، أَوْ عَيْنِ حَاسِدٍ، اللَّهُ يَشْفِيني بسْمِ اللهِ أَُرْقِي نفسي
Transliteration: Bismillahi arqi nafsi, min kulli shay’in yu’thini, min sharri kulli nafsin, aw ‘ayni hasidin, Allahu yashfini bismillahi arqi nafsi.
Translation: In the Name of Allah, I perform Ruqyah for myself, from everything that is harming me, from the evil of every soul, or that of an envious eye. Allah cures me; in the Name of Allah, I perform Ruqyah for myself. [Reported by Muslim, in Sahih Muslim, from Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri, Hadith number: 2186, Sahih.]
This heartfelt supplication reminds us to seek the divine protection of Allah SWT against all harm, relying on His unmatched healing power.
Dua 7
اللهمَّ إني أسألُك العافيةَ في الدنيا والآخرةِ اللهم إني أسألك العفوَ والعافيةَ في ديني ودنياي وأهلي ومالي اللهمَّ استُرْ عوراتي وآمِنْ رَوْعاتي اللهم احفظْني مِنْ بينِ يديَّ ومِنْ خلفي وعَنْ يميني وعَنْ شِمالي ومِنْ فوقي وأعوذُ بعظمتِك أنْ اغتالَ مِنْ تحتي .
Allahumma inni as’aluka al-‘afiya fi al-dunya wa-al-akhirah. Allahumma inni as’aluka al-‘afwa wa al-‘afiya fi deeni wa dunyai wa ahli wa mali. Allahumma-stur ‘awrati wa amin raw’ati. Allahumma ihfazhni min bayni yadayya wa min khalfi wa ‘an yamini wa ‘an shimali wa min fawqi wa a’udhu bi-‘adhamatika an ughtala min tahti.
This translates to: O Allah, I ask You for wellness in this world and the next. O Allah, I ask You for pardon and wellness in my religion, my worldly affairs, my family, and my wealth. O Allah, conceal my faults (literal: nakedness), and pacify my fears. O Allah, protect me from in front of me and behind me, from my right and my left, and from above me, and I seek refuge in Your greatness from being killed from below me.
This supplication, authentically reported by Imam Ahmad in his Musnad, from Abdullah bin Umar (Page/Number: 7/11), invokes Allah’s divine protection, mercy, and wellness over all aspects of one’s life.
Dua 8
اللَّهُمَّ إنِّي أَعُوذُ بكَ مِن زَوَالِ نِعْمَتِكَ، وَتَحَوُّلِ عَافِيَتِكَ، وَفُجَاءَةِ نِقْمَتِكَ، وَجَمِيعِ سَخَطِكَ
Its transliteration is:
Allahumma inni a’oodhu bika min zawali ni’matik, wa tahawwuli ‘afiyatik, wa fuja’ati niqmatik, wa jamee’ sa-khatik
This means: O Allah, I seek refuge with You from the declining of Your blessings, the removal of the state of well-being, the sudden onset of Your punishment, and from all that displeases You.
This hadith was narrated by Abdullah bin Omar and is mentioned in Sahih Muslim, number 2739, and it’s classified as authentic (Sahih).
Dua 9
اللهمَّ إنّا نسألك تمام العافية، ونسألك دوام العافية، ونسألك الشكر على العافية، ونسألك الغنى عن الناس، اللهمَّ عافنا في أبداننا، اللهمَّ عافنا في أسماعنا، اللهمَّ عافنا في أبصارنا، اللهمَّ إنّا نسألك العفو والعافية في الدين والدنيا والآخرة .
Transliteration : Allahumma inna nass’aluka tamaam al’aafiyah, wa nass’aluka dawam al’aafiyah, wa nass’aluka ash-shukr ‘ala al’aafiyah, wa nass’aluka al-ghina ‘an an-naas, Allahumma aafina fi abdanina, Allahumma aafina fi asma’ina, Allahumma aafina fi absarina, Allahumma inna nass’aluka al-afw wa al’aafiyah fi ad-deen wa ad-dunya wa al-akhirah.
Translation: O Allah, we ask You for perfect well-being, we ask You for everlasting well-being, we ask You for gratitude for well-being, we ask You for richness independent of people. O Allah, grant well-being to our bodies, grant well-being to our hearing, grant well-being to our sight. O Allah, we ask You for pardon and well-being in our religious and worldly affairs, and in the Hereafter.
