Introduction to Dua After Tashahud

When we stand in prayer and engage in a beautiful and humbling conversation with Allah (s.w.t.), one of the most profound and heartfelt moments arises after reciting the Tashahud. It is at this moment when we raise our hands and supplicate to our Creator, seeking His infinite mercy, guidance, and protection.

The Dua after Tashahud is a poignant appeal to Allah, where we beseech His forgiveness (Maghfirah) and seek His aid (Istithna) against all forms of trials and tribulations (Fitna) that we may face in this world (Dunya) and the Hereafter (Akhirah). Through these supplications, we acknowledge our own weaknesses and demonstrate our utmost need for Allah’s guidance and graciousness.

In these precious moments of prayer, we also implore Allah to grant us life if it is good for us or to take our souls if death is preferable. This bold and powerful request exemplifies our unwavering faith in Allah’s wisdom and a profound trust in His plan for us. As faithful servants, we submit to His divine will, knowing that He alone truly comprehends what is best for us in both our Din and Dunya.

So, let us delve into the spiritual depths of these heartfelt Duas after Tashahud and strive to strengthen our connection with Allah. May these prayers bring solace to our souls and serve as an anchor of hope, reminding us that Allah’s love and mercy are ceaseless, ever-present, and available to all who call upon Him.

O Allah, by Your knowledge of the unseen and Your power over creation, keep me alive so long as You know such life to be good for me and take me if You know death to be better for me. O Allah, make me fearful of You whether in secret or in public and I ask You to make me true in speech, in times of pleasure and anger.I ask you to make me moderate in times of wealth and poverty and I ask You for everlasting bliss and joy which will never cease.I ask You to make me pleased with what You have decreed and for an easy life after death.I ask You for the sweetness of looking upon Your Face and a longing to encounter You in a manner which does not entail a calamity which will bring about harm nor a trial which will cause deviation. O Allah, beautify us with the adornment of faith and make us of those who guide and are rightly guided.
