Surah Al-Baqarah

by MD

Surah Al-Baqarah is an important chapter in the Holy Quran, as it contains principles that are vital for every Muslim. It establishes the fundamentals of Islamic beliefs, such as recognizing Allah (SWT) and that He is the only God and Creator of everything. The chapter also teaches Muslims to respect their parents, relatives and those who are weaker than themselves. People who do good deeds will receive positive rewards in this life and the hereafter, while those who do evil will be punished appropriately by Allah (SWT). Each person has free choice when it comes to his or her actions and can choose between right and wrong.

This surah also instructs people to believe in Allah (SWT) and His messengers, follow His commands and avoid doing things that may displease Him. The last part of the surah also gives examples of acts that are condemned by Allah (SWT), such as lying, cheating, breaking promises, backbiting and fighting.

The second surah of the Qur’an, Al-Baqarah, lays the foundation for many of the basic beliefs and practices of Islam. It discusses Allah (SWT)’s oneness and uniqueness, the existence of angels, and the Day of Judgment. It also speaks of righteous conduct, including honesty in business and kindness to others. The issue of hypocrisy is one that comes up several times as a warning to believers not to outwardly behave in ways that are not consistent with their inner belief in God.

This surah also clarifies what it means to be a true believer (one who submits to Allah (SWT)) and describes how such a person should behave. Notably, it instructs believers not to argue over the rules of religion but instead to focus on actions that bring them closer to Allah (SWT). This points toward another repeated theme—that faith without action is worthless. Faith is not a passive state but rather an active striving for closeness to Allah (SWT). Since this is an early surah though, it focuses more on righteous action than on the details of how we might go about doing good deeds.
